Happiness —
For a long time it's seemed to me that life was about to begin - Real life.
But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through
first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid.
At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life. This perspective
has helped me to see there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So
treasure every moment you have and remember that time waits for no one.
Happiness is a journey, not a destination...
— A beautiful card I was once given.
Definition of Bulimia
Bulimia — Purging that takes place in any frequency,
any intensity and any way. Usually defined with a binge/purge cycle.
Binge — Eating any amount of food quickly or in excess of the body's natural
hunger and capacity.
Purge — Any unnatural elimination of food or calories.
This includes vomiting, laxatives and excessive exercise.
Bulimia is not limited to the individual who consumes thousands of calories and then
vomits. It includes the individual who only purges once a week when too much of a
certain food is consumed, or the individual who takes extra laxatives after they
overeat at a family gathering.
A bulimic may purge as often as ten times a day or as seldom as once a month; any
unnatural evacuation is considered bulimic behavior regardless of frequency.
I have been every aspect of bulimic. I have evacuated after everything I eat
including "healthy food." I have only purged after "bad food" and only
once in a while. I have gone several months between purges and discounted
the idea that I was bulimic. I have been a very thin bulimic and I have
been a size 22 bulimic.
The definition is not important; the state of mind is. If you struggle with food
consumption, if you obsess over what you are or are not allowed to put into your body,
if you eat when your not hungry or punish yourself for eating the "wrong" thing then
this website may help you.
The information here is my journey dealing with bulimia. It is my personal
experience and the information that helped me overcome the issue and heal. Hopefully,
it will help you too.
